People have become addicted to their gadgets. Smartphones, tablets, mp3 players and laptops have taken over! Our lives seem easier and more exciting with them. We can't seem live without all those little images, likes, messages, tweets, and pokes.
However, things were not like this before. For all of you who still remember the good old days when fun meant playing football in the school yard, The Digital Detox has the right place for you.
"Camp Grounded" is a retreat for adults created by the Digital Detox Company. They offer a 4-days summer camp totally technology-free. So, no iPhones, smartphones, tablets, pads, and pods are allowed, just you and nature. This camp is mainly designed for people who live with their smartphones glued to their hands and need to get away from their busy lives.
The camp offers accommodation for 232 campers. It is built in the style of the 1970s, and campers must follow strict rules: no phones, no technology, and no talk about work for 4 days! Instead of technology, campers are given the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities like yoga, hiking, archery, and many other games. The campers sleep in cabins and eat together in a dining hall. At night, they are encouraged to explore the woods around the camp. Not very usual for a campsite, right?
Right! However, this camp is not your average camp. The Digital Detox offers its campers a "magical nightlife" where campers can sneak out at night and wander around the woods. There are many entertaining activities waiting to be discovered. Some campers may find a jazz band inside a bus, others may find a bonfire. It is truly a magical night!
Besides technology, alcohol and drugs are also not allowed inside the camp. It is definitely a freeing experience from the modern, crazy, everyday life.
