On Saturday, March 30th, North Korea declared it was entering into a "state of war" with South Korea. Immediately, Anonymous Korea sent a notification stating to have crashed several North Korean government websites, as part of a counter strike.
Anonymous claimed to have crashed five North Korean websites, of which three were still unavailable by 5 pm Eastern time on Saturday. The official North Korean website was running though as was the the site of the North Korean central news agency, while "Uriminzokkiri" the North Korean propaganda site was reported to be hacked but came back after a certain period.
Anonymous Korea said that the attacks were part of the online hacking effort, which was named "#OpNorthKorea."
North Korea was targeted right after its claims of war with South Korea and just one day after it stated to have targeted the USA.
Even though Anonymous Korea claimed to have caused the hacking on several North Korean sites on Saturday, another hacker known as "The Jester" announced that the hacking was as he stated "his gig". The Jester is a well-known hacker who has claimed responsibility for hacking many sites such as Wikileaks, 4chan and Jihadists sites as well. The Jester believes himself to be a fighter against terrorism, oppressive regimes, extremists and other "bad guys".
