Whatever Apple is planning to present to the market will be huge by the looks of it! The company has recently showed interest in "gaze detection application", something they filed back in 2008 and renewed in January this year.
The gaze detection application behaves similar to Samsung's "Smart Stay" technology that is incorporated in the Galaxy S3 and S4 devices. Smart Stay stops the screen from switching of and "going to sleep" when the user is watching something or actively touching the smartphone. According to Apple's patent, the technology for gaze detection will use the smartphone's front camera and an accelerometer. The accelerometer is able to detect whether or not the phone is held by the user while the front camera detects whether the user is looking at the screen.
Samsung Galaxy S4 has technology incorporated into its design like the eye scrolling feature. The eye scrolling feature pauses videos once the user turns their gaze away from the screen. Apple fans believe that Apple is laying the road for new face-recognition technology rumored to be part of the new iOS7.
