Apple Keeps The Lead As US Smartphone Maker

According to a report released by ComScore regarding the three-month-period from February to April this year, Apple has strengthened its position as the top US smartphone maker. Taking into consideration the three month period, the Cupertino tech giant increased the number of subscribers by 1.4%, reaching a total of 39.2% subscribers in April 2013. This number was 37.8% at the end of January.
The second place is rightfully occupied by Samsung with 22% of the market share. The Korean manufacturer showed an increase of 0.6% from January 2013. Samsung is followed by HTC on the third position with 8.9%, Motorolla on the fourth with 8.3% and LG on the fifth place with 6.7%.
When it comes to smartphone OS platforms, Android is leading the OS on the market with 52% of subscribers. Google has been in the lead for some time now, but the numbers show a slight drop in the percentage (-0.3%) from January 52.3%. Google's Android is followed by Apple iOS that demonstrated a significant rise of 1.4%, making a total of 39.2% in April.
Other companies like Microsoft, BlackBerry and Symbian, make up a small part of the huge market. With numbers like 3.0%, 5.1% and 0.5% accordingly, they all need to put great efforts and innovative designs to present themselves as potential rivals in the market.
