Breathometer The Smart Phone Breathalyzer

Out with friends? Had a few drinks? You don't feel drunk so you get in your car and drive off, but the police stop you. Feelings of impending doom sink in as you hope your alcohol level is under limit. This won't be a problem anymore. A new device, the Breathometer is a specially designed device that will help you test the alcohol level in you with just a few puffs of air – straight from your smart phone.
The Breathometer was designed by Charles Michael Yim, a founder of several startup companies. He came up with the idea of this device because he wanted to feel safe to drive after a few drinks. Old breath analyzers seemed unpractical as they cost way too much money and were too big to carry around with you. The Breathometer is small, efficient, and it can fit in your pocket to sync with your smart phone.
Breathometer consists of two parts: a hardware device and a phone application. You plug in the small device to the phone's headset jack and run the application. Once it is set, you blow a breath in the designated area and wait for the two devices to sync and give you the results.
The Breathometer is currently available through the Indiegogo campaign. People who donate $100 can be on the company's first shipment list in July. Others that donate $20 can get the device in a year.
Yin is hoping that more people will become aware of safe drinking and driving by having this device on them at all times. The numbers of people being killed by drunk driving in the USA are horrifying as well as the numbers that include DUI accidents.
This way people will know for sure if they are fit to drive home or they should get a taxi instead.
