Cybersquatting

Cybersquatting is the act of registering, trafficking, or using a domain that has the same name as a popular trademarks, brand or a person. The profit comes usually from the original trademark, brand, or person, who pays a lot of money to own such domains. The rule "first come, first serve" does not apply for this issue, as the US Government adopted the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act to prevent such matters from happening. Cybersquatters in some cases are known to even register similar domains, like variants of the popular trademark or person. This is known like typosquatting.

The term squatting means the act of occupying a free, unused or abandoned space or building, without any permission to do so.
