Google Panda

Google Panda is an algorithm designed by Google whose aim was to lower the rankings of "low-quality" sites. It was first introduced in 2011 as a revolution in the search engine's ranking algorithm. The Panda algorithm was designed to affect the rankings on an entire website not just individual pages. After its release, many websites dropped their rankings, that led to thousands of complaints addressed to Google.

Google Panda was the beginning of the era of over-optimization penalties used by Google.
