According to the Wall Street Journal, the Internet giant, Google, has started building a new game console. The console will be based on the Android operating system, and it will present a serious rival to already existing game consoles on the market like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. The rumors of a Google console came out after the release of Ouya, a game console that runs on the Android OS and around size of a smartphone.
If Google decides to build a game console one day, they will be able to count on all useful tips from Ouya, and its users. Plus, Google will have around 100,000 Android games on Google Play ready to be ported into their gaming console. While the games are of a much lower quality than traditional gaming consoles, experts feel that users would be willing to play games at a low cost. Just in comparison, PlayStation has around 800 available games, Xbox has around 1000, and Nintendo has 139. So far, officials at Google have not denied nor confirmed any of the ongoing speculations and rumors.
