Matt Cutts On Is It Ok To Copy And Combine Content From Various Websites?

How well can you rank in Google if you copy and combine content from different websites? Google's Matt Cutts posted another video answer today in which he explains why copying web content is bad, and doesn't generate real value.
This practice of taking fragments of content from other websites and pasting them on your own site is called "stitching content". According to Matt, stitching content will only lead to bad rankings in Google. Moreover, he says that Yahoo especially "hated this technique" and considered it "spam."
On the other hand, if you summarize the content in your own words and cite the sources, like Wikipedia does for example, you can create an original and exclusive piece of content. This way, you don't just quote but add value in creating original content worth reading.
