Mozilla is planning to enter the tablet market. According recent rumors, the Internet giant is teaming up with Foxconn, a Taiwan company, in order to launch a new device on the market. The new device will be run on Firefox OS. Even though neither company has been precise on what type of the device the team would be working on, it is believed that it would be a tablet.
Mozilla has already made several partnerships with mobile manufacturers like LG, Alcatel and ZTE to produce smartphones that have the Firefox OS. Moving to tablets seems like the next reasonable step. Having Foxconn as a partner will make Mozilla a strong competitor on the tablet market. Foxconn is well-known for producing gaming consoles and iOS devices. The company has expressed they are eager to expand their horizons.
The launch of the device is expected to be as early as June 3rd, however, nothing has been made official quite yet. The cooperation between these two companies is of mutual interest. Mozilla is bidding the success of the tablet on the new and growing markets like South America and Europe. On the other hand, Foxconn is hoping to increase the company's revenue with this new alliance.
