NY Auto Dealers On A Verge To Win Against Tesla Motors

Last Friday, Green Cars Reports released information from auto dealers in New York stating they supported two bills, A07844 and S05725. If adopted, these bills would prohibit car manufacturers from selling their own cars in the State of New York. This direct attack to Tesla came out of nowhere and was expressively supported by car dealers across the state. The Assembly is due to meet again in January.
The two bills propose the following: any registration or renewing a registration of a car dealer must be prohibited where the car manufacturer has the controlling interest (unless they were was given a certificate before July 1, 2006); owning future stores and dealerships by car manufacturers will be prohibited and made illegal.
Tesla has been fighting US car dealers across the country for quite some time and with these bills, there's a chance that Tesla could take a hit. Dealers have been worried that Tesla's business model could lead to other car manufacturers selling their own vehicles.
