Samsung released the numbers for the second quarter of 2013 and they confirmed what we already knew all along. The Korean tech giant is still the world's top leader in the mobile industry. According to the latest quarterly data, Samsung shipped nearly twice as many phones as the next contender, Apple. This number comes down to 72.4 million gadgets shipped in Q2.
According to Samsung, their latest Q2 profit increased 47%, or $8.5 billion, which was very close to what the company had expected from this part of the year. The profit from the mobile division, which makes up for nearly two-thirds of the company's profits, also rose 53% or $5.6 billion.
If we compare the numbers between Q2 and Q1, we will see a small drop in the company's profits. One significant drop was felt in the mobile division where the operating profits fell 3.5%. However, the company is prepared for the next two difficult quarters when competition will be stronger.
