It is the practice of improving a website to increase the amount of organic traffic a website receives from the search engines. The major search engines, Google, Bing, and Yahoo!, are regularly crawling the Internet for new pages. By increasing a website's search engine visibility, a website becomes more available for the crawlers to find new content. As a result, we are also increasing the traffic - It's the best of all worlds!

Who Are The Search Engines?

At the center of the Internet are the three major search engines – Google, Bing, and Yahoo! They've become handy resources when it comes to searching for something on the Internet. From a webmaster's stand point, they're also a great source of free traffic. By ranking on the first page for a popular keyword, we are essentially displaying our website for the world to see.

How does a search engine find my site?

Search engines find websites by using "Crawlers". Crawlers are server bots that the search engines have running around the clock digesting websites. As a crawler visits a website, it strips apart the pages and attempts to sort each piece of content. By employing various SEO Optimization techniques, we can help the crawler sort the content into the keyword topics that we're trying to rank for. A well optimized site will be able to notify the crawlers to read the content as soon as it's available.
