According to the recent study conducted by the research agency Ascend2, companies that don't incorporate social media into their search engine optimization techniques don't do well in SEO. The agency questioned over 600 business and marketing experts around the world to rank the SEO success of their companies. The final verdict, social media helps SEO.
According to the results, 50% of companies that don't incorporate social media do very poorly in SEO. Only 5% succeed in SEO without the social media factor. On the other hand, companies that incorporated social media into their SEO techniques did very well (a success rate of 38%).
Social media involves millions, even billions, of people. Facebook has 1 billion users, Google+ and Twitter have over 500 million users, and LinkedIn is catching up quickly with its 225 million users. All these people are online using social networks every day. Business owners and large companies that use social networks to attract and engage customers have a much wider reach simply by posting or tweeting.
The key to succeeding in SEO lies in correctly incorporating all SEO factors together. Content, keywords, mobile options, proper title usage, social media presence, and many more factors all contribute to ranking better. All factors are crucial for success. A social media presence is just the latest factor in building a good brand. In addition to ranking better, companies that advertise on social networks have been seeing a higher return on their investments over conventional paid advertising. It's never too late to start. People are ready to follow a brand, they just need a place to start.
