At the end of the Shanghai's Mobile Asia Expo, Sony introduced the third generation of their Android based smart watches, the SmartWatch2.
Even though the gadget was not the highlight of the show, the new SmartWatch 2 presents a revolutionized step forward in creating smart watches, and also makes Sony as a leader in the smart watch market. The watch is designed to function as a second screen to your Android smartphone. It supports numerous applications like Facebook, Twitter, weather, email, Gmail, Runtastic, and it can also be used to take photos and answer incoming calls.
Compared to its predecessors, the watch has had some improvements to its display. SmartWatch2 has a 220×176 pixels resolution on its 1.6 inches LCD display which is also transflective. This means that the display is specially designed to improve visibility in sunlight. The watch itself is water resistant and has a NFC (near-field communication) connectivity integrated in its system. According to Sony, the SmartWatch 2 will hit the markets this September.
