Tumblr Releases Updates And New Features
Posted: July 24, 2013 by Alex Chan
When Yahoo! bought Tumblr for $1.1 billion, it marked one of the most expensive acquisitions in social media for 2013. Now, the micro-blogging website has released new features and updates to improve users' experience. It's been a week since their new features came out, would you say Yahoo! has improved Tumblr?
The first new feature is the "Activity Page" which allows users to graph their activity on the network, view their top fans, and check their notifications. According to Tumblr's product engineer, Bill Eager, this new feature will allow faster access to likes, reblogs, replies, and highlights from people users follow.
Tumblr also re-introduced Tumblarity, a feature that was first introduced back in 2009, and discontinued after only 6 months. With Tumblarity, which is both a personal and general statistics page, users can follow specific blogs as well as see which blogs are most popular on the network.
These are just a couple handy new functions Yahoo! has decided to bring back. So far the forums have shown users are fairly happy about the updates. Would you say they're improvements?
